Staying motivated around the holidays

Published by jen925844 at 8:31 am under 1 Edit This

As a work at home mom, I always find it hard to stay completely motivated around the holidays.  It seems I am always running around going to the post office or picking up things at the store.  I don’t feel as stressed this year for some reason.  Perhaps it started with Thanksgiving….we decided to go out to dinner and I didn’t cook one thing!  It was well worth it.  No cooking, no mess to clean up, and I actually think we saved money by going out!  This Christmas I think we are going to just stay home and open presents and have a nice breakfast by ourselves without our extended family.  The last two years have been out of control with extended family coming over and bringing loads of gifts.  I don’t mind if they come over in the afternoon or evening…minus the gifts of course…for dinner or something like that.  This is the first year that our daughter realizes what is going on and there is no way she is getting up in the morning and waiting around for people to show up so that she can open her presents.  Maybe next year we will just head off to Mexico or something for a beach Christmas!

With work it seems like everyone is working long hours trying to finish up projects before the end of the year.  Happens every single year.  It is really hard to stay motivated and focused.  I have been getting up a little earlier and getting in quite a bit of work before my daughter wakes up.  This is helping me with the end of the year push to get things completed at least.
